State Representative Cheryl Gray releases the following statement
regarding needed funding for the Sewerage and Water Board

"I wish to thank Treasurer John Kennedy and the members of the
Louisiana Bond Commission for approving the $23 million capital outlay
budget approved by the Legislature in the 2007 Regular Session as
requested by the City of New Orleans.  I would also like to thank
Governor Blanco and her administration for their support."

"The Bond Commission's approval of the Louisiana Public Facilities
Authority (Hurricane Recovery Program) Series 2007, will allow the City
to buy bonds to fund $300 million in needed recovery projects.  I
worked in my legislative capacity to approve this request because the
Nagin Administration agreed to commit $100 million of this future
capital money to the unfunded needs of the Sewage and Water Board. By
improving our infrastructure, particularly our drainage and water
systems, we are taking a significant step forward in rebuilding New
Orleans."
